The title is derived from the first American cookery book, published 1742, by William Parks in Williamsburg, which was based on a much larger book by Mrs E.Smith, published in England. Parks omitted recipes containing ingredients unobtainable in the colony. This nicely produced little book also includes recipes from handwritten notebooks, as well as a section on Christmas in Virginia. Useful bibliography at rear.
