Black stain approx 4cm long on spine, pages yellowed. Doris Grant became a convert to the Hay System of eating when it helped improve her crippling arthritis. Encouraged by WIlliam Hay, she began publishing books on the plan for a British audience. This slim volume is one of the most famous of her books. As well as supplying recipes, including one for her famous Grant Loaf, it also cited evidence to support her contention that refined white bread was "murdered food" because it has the most important, life-giving element, the wheat germ removed. While initially met with scepticism, many of her ideas on food are now regarded as commonplace, and given she lived until 98, probably worth paying attention to. This copy has the name Ambrose Heath on the ffep.
